In the Norwegian language there is a term, 'dørstokkmila' or the Door Step Mile. This term represents the physical and often more emotional 'mile' that comes with trying to get out of the door. This is often how one may feel about starting a company.
The conversations regarding starting a company with Lauren, our founder, has been an ongoing discussion for the last few years. Our recent lockdown experience has given us the time and space to reflect. Our recent move to Sri Lanka, the country formerly known as Ceylon, has given us the impetus to proceed.
Lockdown was rightly coined the word of the year for 2020 and amidst all of this ambiguity we all seemed to search the internet constantly, often in vain, for a bit of escape. Escapism, maybe will be the term of 2021?
We created Chic Ceylon to help provide this escape focusing on 3 key themes: wellness, destinations and design. We are an eclectic mix of a young family with 3 young daughters. We know that life is hard for a lot of young families and that suffering is widespread, rampant and often silent. We hope Chic Ceylon can provide a bit of escape and comfort in these trying times.
Our founder, Lauren, is a trained counselor born and raised overseas. Her wellness advice has been long sought after and her global experience raises a unique voice in what is often a very monotone world. Her team will provide advice across a plethora of design, wellness and destination advice that stem from her teams near 50+ years of expatriate experience.
Chic Ceylon's themes are multi-faceted and diverse; often overlapping due to the inherent nature and fluidity within each category.
We look forward to having you join us.
Welcome to the island.
